I'll be doing an early run to Rufforth for nuts, bolts and some thinners. Then heading North to Classics on Show at Stokesley ** Please log in to view ** as I've missed it over the last few years and if the weathers good its a great little show.

I will be getting to Rufforth about 10 O'clock. Is there somewhere to park my Bantwm securely? Thinking of chaining to something immovable.

Theres an area just by the hut where you pay to put your bike. Theres a fence along the side of that area where you could lock your bike quite easily (concrete posts and steel tube).

Nope. There is an area, just by the hut where you pay to get in, where you put your bike! Parking is free, entry is £2 per person.

Went to the Rufforth auto jumble. Lots of stalls and hundreds of people. I think I counted 4 of us wearing masks inside! I got a couple of bits but didn't find a tubular/ pressed steel plug socket which is surprising. Worth going but as its my first auto jumble I don't have anything to benchmark against.

Got there a bit late myself. No Bantam to be seen so guess you'd gone again. Can't say I've seen one of the old Melco spark plug wrenches in a fair while. I think there must have been something else on as normally the tarmac area at the back of the building is covered in stalls as well, so it was a bit quieter than normal! Still where else are you going to get bits, fasteners, paint and stuff on a Saturday morning!? Weather held off nicely as well as it started raining about 12 and kept it up for a lot of the afternoon.

Forecast was poor so I went in the Car. I suspect conflicting events and the bad forecast kept some stall holders away. Interesting to know that its normally even bigger.

I usually find that if you go in search of a particular item, it won't be there.

Thanks. There are some on-line but I was thinking more in the region of a couple of quid.

You will find one, if not at an auto jumble, try car boot sales, usually under the tables old tool boxes full of rusty tools contain old-school tools I always buy box spanners if they are dirt cheap, they are great for awkward nuts and bolts, (they make good spacers when sliced if you want to sacrifice one)

Larry

I have an old draper box type plug spanner, you can have it if you like, the postage will be about  £2.40 Royal Mail 2nd class, just PM the address and I will send it, put the postage money in a charity box if you like

Plug spanner on it's way the handle is slightly twisted, easily straightened or taken off if you want it to fit in a Bantam toolbox and use a screwdriver through the holes.

Bit late on but its the funny little Upper Poppleton Show on the 21/8/21. Display your classic or unique bike on the village green from 2pm to 5pm. Bring a bit of wood for your stand. Entry is free.

Cheers Colin
