Hi, I have a 1961 d7 bantam which I am restoring.

The previous owner must have dropped it at some point., causing the lever to be bent upwards

Therefore it will hit the exhaust.

Any help would be appreciated, Terry @Newark nottinghamshire

They often hit the silencer if bracket is not fitted correctly or kickstart is wibbly-wobbly on its splines, many Bantams have the rusty tell-tale scrape mark through the silencer chrome.

If tucking the exhaust system in a bit doesn`t do the trick, how about finding someone to bung the kickstart in a vice and get some gas bottles on the job to straighten it out a little?

Please note: basically due to no luck with either a 2nd hand replacement,  or any way of reforming the lever, I have purchased a new one. Thankyou for the advice given. I am itching to get my bettie blue running soon. Crossed fingers !!
