Thanks for all the information, but I have another problem.

My D1 was exported to South Africa from the factory in 1952 and brought back to England a couple of years ago.

I wonder what the bike had in its tax disk in Capetown from new?

Any ideas?

Forum member Woody is in South Africa. Maybe he's in a position to find out. He may have had old tax discs on his D5 rebuild or other old bikes that he has access to.

How do I send a PM to Woody in South Africa. I just can't find out how to do it from the Club Info.

Click on the 'members' button at the top of the page, search for 'woody', send him a pm.

He hasn't been active on here for a long time. His 'membership' may have lapsed.

I have also had problems looking for people on here with the members button but it might be my software at home being incompatible.

Have been online and done some digging and haven't been able to find much re South African tax discs.  Found some relatively new ones but nowt else.  Was there (Jo'Berg) in the nineties and don't really recall seeing them (did a lot of driving with my Uncle while I was there)  Cops didn't seem to care if you had one or not.
