Hi everyone.  Having taken over the mantle of Area Rep and with the prospect of better weather I thought I’d better get organised!  The next Banter will have a short report/plan but as the first date is early in March I thought I’d better reproduce the details here too.  As I say I’m very open to (polite) suggestions about where to go, probably best to contact me via PM on here.

I should say that being new to this game it is very much trail and error (or trial and improvement as it’s now known) as to what will prove to be a winning formula.

Forthcoming Banter entry:

Suffolk Area Report

Looking ahead to the warmer weather a plan is beginning to form as to how to best enjoy our Bantams together.  This is my first foray into club life so nothing too ambitious to start with, my initial thoughts are to have a regular monthly meet up at various interesting/attractive venues. To this end I’ve set aside the first Wednesday of March (4th), April (1st!), May (6th) and June (3rd) to get us started.

Looking at the map of Suffolk and the location of the members it seems that the Stowmarket area is pretty central for most of us so how about starting at the Museum of East Anglian life? It’s interesting, full of relics(!) and has a decent cafe.  The idea would be to make our own way there (by any means but if possible on a Bantam), meet up for a coffee and cake and get to know each other, admire the bikes and have a look round the museum. (As a newcomer to Suffolk I’m open to suggestions as to suitable future destinations although I do fancy another visit to Leiston both for the Longshop Museum and the Dave Silver collection).

Looking further ahead Gary (of LEJOG fame) is mapping out a route to the National Rally going via Rex Caunt’s. The idea is to travel from Felixstowe over two days along an enjoyable route with others joining us along the way. Keep a look out for developments and a route map.

Best wishes, may your Bantams not be too frustrating!

D7/14 hybrid (4 speed with D7 crank etc.) on the road, D10 Bushman awaiting rebuilding.
