I have had this 1949 James trials bike for some time and stripped it down but then got sidetracked into other things ,but guess what I seem to have lots of time to rebuild it !! It will not be a full restoration but just an oily rag job and hopefully I shall get time to ride it in the not to distant future.B98E7401-9EDD-4C0B-AEAB-10897CA18ADE.jpeg

Very nice.   197cc?   James beat the Bantam for a Comp model, yeah?  Front fork rubber inserts replaced with steel springs by now?

I`d love another James, the early `50s Cadet I owned in the mid `70s was that colour too. I hadn`t realised when I bought it, that my mother had one in the early `50s. She was a mechanic at Alf Cunningham`s Mile End Garage in Brandon, Suffolk...and once laid it down in the wet & slid under a lorry, lucky escape.

Morning, from the limited information I have the bike started out with a 125 engine that was later changed to a 6E in order to make it similar to a K9.In reply to Blue unfortunately it still has the rubber suspension front forks but as the bike is nearly as old as I am it will only be used for gentle green laning,I was tempted to enter it in the Beamish Trophy trial but I think I will stick to my B175,assuming the trial still goes ahead.

To every one stay safe  David

Ooh - I would love a bike like that (especially 1949) to run around the agricultural tracks over here - give us a shout if you run out of space... whistle

Could you edit your topic title to include 'James' for future searches? Hopefully Covid will be consigned to the bin of history before James' are!
