Once again I received a little grey card from the postman this morning. It tells me that there is an item for me waiting for collection that the postage has been underpaid. This is usually because the poster has put a first or second class stamp on the item, and it needs more, at least a large letter. So, I end up having to pay a handling fee as well. Add to that the time to go to the sorting office, find somewhere to park, or pay for a car park, pay the fee and return home, that's a morning down the tube for  me.

I have said before that I will not collect things from the Post office that are underpaid, in the end I have relented and gone and got the item. Last time it was someone who contacted me and asked if I had received their application for a dating certificate. When I said not, it was soon realised that it was their item sat in the PO, so I went and got it after agreeing reimbursement.

This time, I am not going to get it. Its a simple process to get the right postage on an item for Royal Mail. You can check online, or take it to the PO and they will tell you how much. If you cant be bothered to do that, I cant be bothered to collect it from the sorting office. Simples.

If you reading this and thinking, "it might be the application I sent....." then I suggest you get in touch soon.

I have received another card courtesy of the postman this morning, an item being held at the post office due to the postage being underpaid. if you have sent me anything within the last few days then contact me asap to check that I have either received your application or I haven't and its your documents sat in the PO.

If it is, you will have to pay the cost before I collect, or wait 4 weeks that the PO wait before they return it to you.
