Hi

I've recently joined the BSA Bantam Club and signed up on the forum. I've had various modern motorbikes over the past 30 years however, I've just acquired my first Bantam, (1966 D7), with the intention of restoring it over the coming months, (and possibly / probably years!).

I've started work on the bike with a strip-down and I'm sure I'll find the club and forum very useful during the rebuilding tasks.

The forum has already proved to be useful by pointing me in the right direction for the specialist tools I'll be needing so it's a big thank you to the forum already.

Hi Highfield welcome to the forum and the club. You will find a wealth of knowledge and experience on here.

The forum search is a little temperamental at times so I find when searching the best way to find information is to use Google. If you enter the following

fault site:bsabantamclub.com Change the word fault for your search requirement.

As a Club member you also have access to the members area and there is a handy FAQ section.

Above all enjoy you bike and if you can’t find an answer feel free to ask away and also to get involved in the various discussions that develop.

Hi, as you have a D7, look in LINKS (it's under FORUM at the top of the page) and go to Boy Albie's Blog, which contains a good description of a D7 engine overhaul.

1956 D3 running, lights to sort. 7 other bikes in the Barn, 6 runners (when I get time!) and a still in progress Morini 250

Hi Highfield,

Welcome to the forum. I have also just recently bought a 1966 D7. It is a rider restore, but already have re-furbished the clutch, re-newed the chain and sprockets, sorted the electrics, re-trued the wheels, sorted the centre stand and much more, all since July this year. I am a seasoned Bantam enthusiast and have owned many motorcycles over the last 40 years.

The 66 D7 bantam seems to be quite sort after it seems, again as stated, you will find a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm here. good luck with your restorations. Keep us all here informed with your progress, along with photo's if possible.

Kind regards.... Nick
