Hello guys,

new to the site but not to bikes.

Started dismantling bikes in my old fallas shop in Hindley near Wigan when I was about 6 or 7. I'm 61 now .

We didn't sell full bikes, we were breakers back then..all British stuff of course.

In those days people would build their own bikes. They would buy a frame of their chosen bike and go from there.

Later though, when the British bike market fell fowl to the Japanese bikes, we moved over ! (reluctantly) to Honda, yamaha etc .

But we still had loads of British parts left kept mainly in the cellar.

Left school at 15 and worked full time at the shop as a mechanic till I turned 27.

Left and worked for Ford at Halewood for the next 34 year repairing transmissions.

Retired now and still have a few bikes, I have a 1948 MAC Velocette that I have owned for 32 years , still runs great and gets used.

Also got an LE that I restored a while back. Not every bodies favorite but its a quirky little thing to ride.

Plus a Yamaha XVS 1300cc Midnight star......very heavy bike at 42 stone.

So, anyway, my first bike on the road was a 1965 D7 reg BOY 154C .

I would love to know if it is still around and maybe being used ?

If you know of its whereabouts and the owner might want to sell it or even let me come a see the old girl, please let me know.

                                                                                                              Cheers Chaps !!

Thanks Stewart,

from what I can gather old Bessy is SORN at the moment so yes it will be tucked away in a shed somewhere, hopefully still in decent condition?

Seen somewhere ont interweb that it is "multi coloured " now? it was just red when I had it with a dent in the front mudguard (LHS)

Some body from Platt Bridge bought the bike for £90..I willing to give the a profit on that now...maybe £95 ? LOL

Been to look at a few D7s but they didn't seem right to me. One was in Liverpool , ran like a bad of....errr well ...you know.

I look on ebay now and again , you never know !

Old mate of mine has a D14 he has offered me for a reasonable price...but it wont be Bessy will it !

Nice to here from you Stewart !

I will update my profile as you suggest ( cheers)

                                                                                                                         ATB pal !
