Back onto the forum and back into Bantam ownership after a three year break, took delivery of my 1969 D14 yesterday, yes it's purple in fact it's metallic purple - how groovy. Mirrors have gone already and I have a few other jobs in mind, but it runs and goes which is a rarity for the bikes I have bought in the past. I've had four other Bantams in the last ten years, as well as CZ's, Vespa, LML, MZ, Honda monkey bike and a Moto Guzzi Zigolo.

The tank is a D1/3 but I think it looks okay, although the junction to the seat is not the tidiest.

When I have saved my pocket money I will go looking for the normal jelly mould tank and probably do the repaint at the same time, unless the purple grows on me...

welcome back, bantams seem impossible to live without one
ive seen a few later bantams with the earlier D1 type tank
I think it look much better then the later jellymould type if they weren't so expensive these days I would put one on my D10
looks as if it has a modified head with centre spark plug as well

Personally, I love the purple Iain. Something a bit different but still "period" When I get my Commando, rofl it'll be that colour 🙂

Until then.....

Thanks for the welcome back, yes it has a centre plug conversion, also a gearbox breather pipe and a nicely machined carb spacer but not sure it needs either.

Started the transformation, second hand tank from ebay means the colour will be blue, side panel first to be painted. Colour match is pretty good, used the recommendation in Banter - Nissan Intense Blue.Bantam-blue-resized.jpg

Nice colour. Now would be an ideal time to move your posts to a restoration section, maybe.
