Hi , I've finally become a Bantam owner!! I am secretary of VMCC North Cotswold section and one of the few members there (apparantly) who had never even ridden a Bantam, so I have finally put that right.

I acquired a semi dismantled 1957 D3 from a lady member that had, during her late husband's 40 odd years ownership, never had any paperwork or  a reg number. Thanks to the brilliant service of Tim Randle, the Dating officer I now have a dating certificate so the paperwork has just gone off to DVLA for an age related number.

I've fitted an electrex world electronic ignition kit and run it around a 'private road' in the village, which went well up to about 25 when it started tapping harshly and stopped when I pulled the clutch. It re started immediately and was fine again until I got up to about 25 when it did it again , so clearly some sorting still to do once it is legal. I am well used to BSA's but not two strokes, so a bit of a learning curve.

Hope to meet up with anyone local to me, and of course once things are back to normal, I would be delighted to take anyone along to our VMCC runs, we do around 40 a year around the Cotswolds, several for vintage bikes and also a Tiddlers run, although most of our runs would be quite doable on a Bantam. I don't recall ever seeing one turn up at one of our runs, oddly enough.

Regards to all

Chris
