Hi everyone, I'm glad I found this website! I'm going in the morning to put a deposit down on a 1960 d7 super. I'm pretty excited, it's my first bike and I've been looking for something in original condition that I can tidy up and keep in original condition. I look forward to chatting about it and sharing photos and info 🙂

Hi Jenelle,

Welcome to a good, friendly forum and you will find lots of help with your bike here.  I would, also,  recommend joining the club at some point.

I have two D7s - one running very well and reliable. The other runs well but will need surgery on its gearbox in the near future.  Enjoy.

Hello Jenelle, welcome. As Stoo says, plenty of info and already answered questions in FAQs, the search method may seem odd but it works! As you are after a D7 I'll point you to a specific D7 site and also another with all the BSA Service Sheets available to download. ** Please log in to view **

I find it amazing how much info can be found with just a little searching on the net. Good luck with the purchase.

1956 D3 running, lights to sort. 7 other bikes in the Barn. 1950 D1 engine now running.

Hello 👋

Hopefully you've avoided the worst of the fires there and enjoy your bike, not sure I'd have been brave enough to have had a British classic as my first bike!

Why ever not ?  My first Bike was a Bantam - and I am sure I am not the only one in this circle of friends -  albeit 50 odd years ago but they were just as quirky then as they are now.  In fact I think there are better bantams out there than the used stock options from 1974 !!  If you can come to grips with a Bantam and get it running right and reliable and learn its foibles you will serve a worthwhile engineering apprentiship on the art of the mechanically possible.  Not to mention a great feeling of satisfaction.  After that I think that you can confidently go on to run almost any motor vehicle - I owe it all to my first D10 Bantam - bought off a gypsy for £20 - it taught me so much.

So Jenelle.......... crack on with your bantam.   Its a great place to start but go into it with an open mind - you will reap the rewards.

Good'day Jenelle and welcome.

I'm 67 in a few months and have owned my Bantam for 5 years....Like you my Bantam is the first Motorcycle I have ever owned.

So glad I bought it....never fails to put a smile on my face....and its amazing the folk who come and chat to me about them were ever I park up.

Hope you have as much fun out of your as I get out of mines....

You will get all the help you need from the guys....on here...and if you decide to join the club you get access to all the BSA manual parts books ect.

So keep flying the flag over there.

Nick.
