Hi All Just saying hello to everyone as I am new to the club. I have a 1953 D1 Bantam on the road I have just fitted electronic ignition as I had big problems getting it going! My next job is fitting a 150 barrel and have some fun before a strip down for new paint. I will add some pics as I go any way cheers for now.

Interesting project you have there...getting a bit more ooomph out of your bike. Look forward to seeing some pics 🙂
I think Cornish Rooster in your neighbouring county, ran a D3 barrrel on his D1
Here`s a link to the subject re the changeover from 52mm to 55mm barrel stud centres. Hopefully you have a later engine fitted to your `53 ** Please log in to view **

Hi and welcome Tony.
I have a 175 D5 engine in my D1 and it goes well, the only draw back is I cannot fit the toolbox due to the larger carburettor. You should be Ok with yours, but you may find that the jets in your carb will need to be changed if you go down the 150 route.
Good luck with your restorations....
