Hi,

Looking for a bit of electrical help\guidance.

I have a D14/4 fitted with a direct ignition D7 engine.

I am not sure if there is any way of using the D7 generator with the existing twin switch D14 wiring loom

i did think about trying to source a D14 engine   until I saw the price!

The switches are the same, but not the wiring harness
so you could make or buy a D7 wiring harness use the H/Light sw for lights
and perhaps use the ignition sw as a engine on/off switch

Hi again

Thanks for all the information.

From an internet search it would appear that a D7 twin switch loom is readily available.

I assume that a 1704 geny is a rarer item. Is there a source you could recommend who could supply.

Thanks again

7311522C-E1BA-4879-A4E7-E2766CC9827F.jpegThis is the current arrangement that is fitted

I assume that this is the standard set up for a D7

i am struggling to identify 1 stator from another

The stator type is engraved (lightly) to the left of the SERIAL NO, lower right of the casting. Yours looks to be 178#. You are also missing the lubricating felt for the cam.

i  cannot   see  good  enuf  to   Identify   the wiering  or  the  SPEC number     ,,it is NOT  a  2switch   1704   , so  after  you  have  chect  the  gap between   the  staytor  legs  and  rotor   ,, remove  it &  do  beter  photos  of  both  sides please
