As you can see I have become the Bantam Club Area Rep for Gloucestershire. Whilst for the last year I and a few other members in our area have been organising meet-ups and ride-outs, they have been on an informal basis. From now on though we are a bona fide section within the Club and I extend to any members in Gloucestershire who might have 'slipped the net' that you are most welcome to contact me if you wish to know what is going on in 'all things Gloucestershire Bantams'. From time to time I have been sending out a 'Round Robin' (r/r) email to the 24 members who are already part of the 'set up' we have here, so if you would like to be added to the 'Bantamneer' mailing list and get the up-to-date info' on ride-outs or meet-ups etc please don't hesitate to contact me. Having said that, I will of course be filling in any relevant dates in the on-line 'Whats On' calender It has been known to be difficult to contact me by telephone - the mobile signal where I live is exceedingly poor and when my landline rings I invariably am attending to 'stuff' in the Garage where I can't hear the bell. However, emails are attended to on a daily basis but I am quite happy for you to 'try your luck' by using my telephone numbers if you do not have access to the internet. (which begs the question 'how are you reading this then ?')
The New Year looks to be very promising. Already in the pipeline we have ride-outs to the Bristol Aeronautical Museum at Filton, (this one was due to have taken place on 8 Dec last but in the interests of safety had to be cancelled due to the forecasted 45mph winds), member David Bearcroft is waiting patiently for the weather to improve so he can lead us into and around the magical Royal Forest of Dean and as a section I hope we can enjoy the 'rumoured' weekend Club ride-out to the West Welsh Coast !
As well as the ride-outs to places of interest we have occasionally met for a Noggin n' Natter session at nearby biker friendly Gloucestershire Airport (Staverton) where they have a good restaurant/bar and a good sized car park. With the number of club members in our area growing and being spread around the County it is envisaged that future Noggin n' Natter sessions can be held at varying locations in an effort to limit travel distances for those in the 'far reaches' ? As yet we don't have a regular date in the month for meet-ups but if anyone would like it so then please drop me a line and I'll see what can be done ?
So lots to look forward to then ? ......... and while I'm on the subject I would like to extend an open invitation to any club member or other section to come and join us on our activities whenever you get the chance. You will be assured of a warm welcome.
