Hi all. Trust you’re well.

Can I pick the collective brain please?

I have had a “wanted” up for a later (BD2) rigid D1 frame, or WHY, both here and on the Facebook page for a few weeks. I’ve only had one response with the offer of a YD1 frame with no paperwork.

I would have taken the earlier frame without any real worry, except that the asking price is £400.

Now, I know that prices are climbing, but that does seem a bit steep to me. I’ve been buying and selling Bantam bits for more than 40 years and I’ve never managed to get that kind of money for a rigid frame. The last one I sold, which had a V5, I got £220 for on eBay about seven years ago, which I thought was pretty good at the time.

So what do you all think? Should I wait or should I buy it?

Cheers, Glen.

Personally, for £400 I would expect a few more bits with the frame, especially with no papers. It is a sellers market though, I suppose. Add in a specific search for a rigid version and you narrow it more. I'm pretty sure I have seen conversion kits somewhere, to make a rigid from a plunger model, though can't remember where. I think frame drawings are in the members' area, might be worth a look?

Thanks gents. Yes, at £200 I would have just bought it, but for double that I think I’ll hang out for the stiffer BD2 frame and/or one with paperwork.

I might grit my teeth and give Bantam John a call...
