Can anybody please help me with any information about my old 1959 Bantam WMR 494 125cc blue & cream ?

I owned it in1965 when I lived in Winsley in Wiltshire and used it to go to school on with my younger brother on the back.

Thank you.

Jon.

Thanks Katj , I already knew that and used it . Seems some of my past bikes are still around ! I was just wondering if there was a place on this site in case anyone may currently own any of my past bantams ...particularly looking for SPH278F....an D13 sport...that's not on the DVLA register.

Just because there not on the register does not mean they don't still exist. dunnoold

They are only on the register if they are currently taxed or on SORN. Pre SORN registrations are also on provided the owner put them on the computer system (via DVLA) before 1983 or there abouts.

If there is nothing shown the bike could still be in existence (barn find etc) or it could be up and running but has had its original registration number transferred, usually to a car, in which case it can only be traceable via engine /frame nos which are not available for general enquiries.

Regards,

Hi Gavin
Just seen your post re SPH 278F this was the first bike I had on the road I got it from a guy in Horsell who also had a trials bantam around 1970 I have film of me riding it around my garden in Send after I passed my test on it I sold it & purchased a C15 my last sighting of it was in Guildford North Street around 1973 did I buy it from you? Or did I sell it to you?
I have just completed a rebuild of a D14/4 sport I now live in Westfield I often wonder what happened to SPH 278F

Where is D14/4 reg FHF 697G? A chap in Lancashire is trying to find his old bike, and has put an ad on the noticeboard in the BSAOC magazine, asking readers to 'check their sheds'. I'm sure many folk on this forum are not BSAOC members, but maybe a forum member knows where the bike is. Can Jess please check his shed? rofl

The hopeful former owner gives his mobile number and email address in the December 2015 issue of The Star, and is interested in buying his old bike. It is on the DVLA register but not on the road since the early 80s. If anyone can help, I will pm the contact details given in The Star.

I've checked the bike details on the Club's Membership Database, and I'm afraid that the number hasn't popped up. Of course - many of our members haven't submitted the details of all their Bantams, so this isn't a definitive 'no.'

Hi,

I'm looking to see if anyone is still riding my old 1953 D1 Bantam registration WFX348. I owned it from 1983-84. It's the bike I learned to ride on, and the one I passed my test on. Many an hour spent in the garage stripping and rebuilding the engine, though for the life of me I can't recall why. I bought it from a guy in Kent, who had restored it. I sold it in Brookwood, Surrey, when I bought its replacement, a 1967 Norton Atlas.

Thanks for reading,

Ian

Going by the registration she was first registered at Dorchester Dorset, they probably still have record of her at Dorset county records office.

I've been contacted by a previous owner of this Bantam, who's trying to get in contact with the bloke he sold it to a few years ago. It may well have passed on again since then. But if you've got it - then I may be able to provide 'some information etc to your advantage.'

I've checked the Club's database - but this VRN isn't registered with a current Club member (although I know our records aren't complete).

If you've got the bike - then please PM or e-mail me with a picture of it showing the VRN/model/colour and any other confirmatory details that you might have (like maybe a picture of the Log Book etc) and I will put you in touch with this fella.
