hi all , actually got  around to filling out a V62 form for my Suzuki M30( suzy) mokick. anyway put in the taxation class question as historic, on the v5c came back as taxation class as "bicycle" and bodywork type as motorcycle!! not a big issue as the taxation to historic will be done when tax? applied for it says in the box for changes. Have had the suzy at the back of the shed for about 5 years, it did not come with a v5. did not really want it but for 50 pounds I took it on mainly because it came from the same motorcycle shop as my bantam when new.(Huxhams on Ashley road in Parkstone, Poole) One other query with the v5c it came with a generic leaflet saying I must tax or sorn it, but it has not been on the road for about 35 years, and not quite ready for the road yet. I was under the impression it would be sorn exempt so to speak?? regards,  bryan

No, it’s not SORN exempt, you must either tax or SORN it every year, though once you declare SORN, it’s stays that way until you re-tax it. The taxation class will be changed when you eventually tax it. I would recommend having the bike insured even if it’s not ready for the road, and if it’s insured, then why not tax it? It’s not like it costs anything.

Current bikes......1958 D5, a 77 Suzuki GT250 and a 77 Honda CB125S. I have a 74 Kawasaki S3 400 and a B175 waiting for restoration. A 1980 Honda CB400N waiting for MOT.  Everyday ride is a 2011 Harley Davidson Sportster.

if they were off the road before the introduction of SORN, then what DVLA doesn't know wont bother them. I think before 1998 vehicles did not require to be SORN, after that they did
