My recently acquired Bantam, but I can't take credit, as this 1954 D3 was obviously a labour of love by the previous owner; however, it will be well cared for by this new owner. PICT0001-2.JPG

Take plenty of photos of what you have for future reference - especially that sought after copper coil fuel line.

Fab Jade Once you start a restoration thread , I'll move the pics over. Like cocorico says the copper fuel pipe is lovely as is the pink lodge plug I got one recently form a club member -thanks Sponge- and am keeping it for a super special project I'm working on.  But you're looking good so far. Great that you've got the back mudguard and in reasonable shape, it seems. If you give us some frame and engine numbers we can help you out with it's origins. Looks pretty early with the forks and left-hand filler n tank.

I got this yesterday. My mate bought it from a neighbor who had discovered it in a nearby farm outbuilding about 3 months ago. When my mate got it the electrics were dead but we quickly found the bad/no earth and then it had lights, horn and sparks. He was humming and hawing over what to do with it then a couple of weeks ago decided that he would sell it. I quickly made my mind up and agreed to buy it. Everything seems original  apart from maybe the engine I'm guessing. It's number (PC040201 B175) bears no resemblance to the engine number on my D14 which starts D14... and matches the frame number. Also the cylinder head has a short reach plug. I've no idea whether to run it or to use bits of it to improve mine (the kickstart on my bike often slips and sometimes jams/won't kick, some of my tin-ware is wrong for a D14) and keep it as a source of spares. It doesn't have a V5 or an old tax disc, I would like to register it, not sure how easy/difficult this would be. Anyway, time to try to add a couple of pics.

You’ve done well there!

Looks like a nice bike and IMHO too good to be used for spares!

Tim will give you chapter and verse but I don’t think you’d have much trouble getting it registered.

Before I got the bike my idea was to run it as it is, aged and scabby (the pics flatter it enormously) and looking like the old bike that it is. However, when I looked at it today side by side with mine (which is far from pristine) the scabbiness started to lose it's appeal. There's no need to rush into anything so I'll see how I feel about things as time goes by.

Once restored it can't be un-restored, looks ok as it is, but as said before it is your bike.
