Here's the knackered gear which caused me to fully rebuild my D10

And here's a very tired but complete bantam for sale at the Kempton Autojumble at the beginning of the year!!

I was tempted just for the folding kickstart!!

There was a very rough D1 rigid at the auction in the Shepton Mallet VMCC autojumble a couple of years ago. It had two wheels that both needed rebuilding, a very rusty frame, forks and maybe a tank - I forget exact details. But I remembered that it sold for £120 odd and had clearly been in a leaky shed or outside for a good few years.

I hope the purchaser felt he/she had a bargain!

The consequence of storing most of an engine and assorted parts in a plastic bin inside a leaky garage (not mine!). Impurities in the water and interaction between differing metals creating this sad state of affairs.

That carby looks OK - it might just use a little more petrol than usual.

Hi All.
I was about to post a picture of a damaged D7 gearbox cog, when I noticed that forum member iand has posted a very similar picture. Could be a common problem with the 3 speed gearbox.

Just as a warning the near side badge on my Gold Star suddenly broke up this week. I mentioned it to someone at the East Sussex open day and he said it was caused by the methanol in the petrol. Yes, I have over filled it several times recently.

Probably not a risk for jelly mould tanks.

Bodge up.

I got this engine and a unusual bolt was sticking out of the right hand side.

Well gang!

Have started double checking the inventory for the engine rebuild, have probably found another reason she had 'issues'....... LOL

sprocket-1.jpg

It is also slightly warped....... Wonder how many miles this sprocket managed?.

MD cheers
