No longer recommended due to various hosting companies pulling the plug with no prior warning resulting in your pictures disappearing from the Forum!

Safest method is to re-size your pictures and upload direct to the Forum, then, as long as the Forum exists, so do your pictures. Follow the instructions found here.

How to post pics and photos into a post so that they show up amongst your text.

Most members are using an image hosting service like Photobucket.com. Photobucket is about the best in terms of ease of use and minimum quirkiness.

First thing you will need to do is to register an account with photobucket, it's free and quick.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/Anderzander/host/Screenshot2011-12-20at224705.png

Once you have an account, log in..

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/Anderzander/host/Screenshot2011-12-20at224937.png

Once logged in you will be taken to your album page. Near the top of the page is where you will upload your pic. Make sure you have saved the picture you want to post to your computer in a place you can find it.

Now you are ready to upload the pic, so hit the big, shiny upload button.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/Anderzander/host/Screenshot2011-12-20at225756.png

The next screen will open and you select the photos from your computer here:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/Anderzander/host/Screenshot2011-12-20at230131.png

mute your computer at this point because whilst the image loads you'll be subjected to a hair care advert or the like.

Once uploaded you'll see this:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/Anderzander/host/Screenshot2011-12-20at230214.png

Click 'view album' to go to the picture and you'll be taken to a page where you see all your photos lined up like this:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/Anderzander/host/Screenshot2011-12-20at230535.png

Hover your mouse over the image you want to use and a small pop-up window will open, and you want to click into the 2nd box down that is labelled 'Direct Link' like this:

It should automatically copy that line of code.

Then simply start your post on the forum and when the cursor is wherever you would like the photo to show up, click the picture icon on above your message box:

When you've done that a pop up window will appear - and if you click into the top box and hit Ctrl+V to paste the code...

it should look like this:

The rest of the boxes can be left blank - so click 'Insert' and the pop-up box will disappear and the iimage should then appear in your window.

(If the picture doesn't appear just click return and it should load up thumbs-up)

Click return to move the cursor onto the next line down and you are ready to input more text or add another picture...

Once you complete the post the image will usually be 'clickable' to open a full size copy.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/Anderzander/host/Screenshot2011-12-20at231527.png

Photobucket can present things slightly differently depending what you click - for example one picture per page or all on one. You can also have multiple albums and sub albums to organise things - but really its all the same - you just look for the direct image code for the picture you want. Its really very simple.

NOTE:-

We no longer recommend this method as any change to the hosting site, or moving your pictures between albums, or deleting them results in the pictures disappearing from the Forum as above.

Thanks for the guide, though I have just started posting photos I seemed to have problems and found it frustrating when the wrong picture appeared. This should be a great help.
Cheers Sam

In the past I have been able to click on the image to enlarge, but that does not work now. Why is that.

Good question Dave .....

Are you getting a thin bar across the top of where the picture would have been ?

I think its a bug from the last forum update - if you pull the bottom right corner of that bar, you'll see the picture is in there - just not being scaled or presented correctly.

I can amend the feature so that it just opens the image on its own in the current window - but then you have to click 'back' on the browser to return to the thread.

The forum developers will need to pick it up in the coding - the positive bit is that they seem pretty on the ball and hard working! so if we leave it a while I would expect it to be fixed in the next update.

In the mean time you can right click with your mouse and I think you will get the option to open in a new window etc.

Thanks, I can expand the thin bar but still no picture, I will await the update as it's not a real problem, just a question.

I've changed the setting, so that if you click the picture it opens up in a new window rather than a pop up.

At least this way you get to see the full size image and can use the back button to return to the forum page.

As soon as the bug in the pop up window is fixed I'll return it to that set up. tip-my-hat

I've changed the instructions to make use of the forum's image posting facility - which means that once posted the picture can be clicked for a full size copy to pop up....

Like the one below will .......

The workings of Photobucket has changed, and now I am unable to post pictures.

How is it done now?

Thanks.

It seems that the method that some of the Hosting sites used has now changed and most of the pictures have disappeared from the Forum. Even new posts with pictures seem affected, the picture appears whilst you are editing the post but does not show when actually posted.

I suggest you use the method to re-size the pictures and upload them directly to the Forum as described here

** Please log in to view **

and here

** Please log in to view **

This method has the advantage that as long as the Forum is available, all the pictures will still be available.

I'm not a complete idiot ............................................ some parts are missing.
