I list about 30 items a week on Ebay and try to keep the post costs to a minimum because I think that overpriced postage discourages bidding particularly from overseas buyers .

People often over or under estimate postage cost, but there is no need to guess …. weigh it , use the ** Please log in to view ** to calculate the cost add a bit for bits and bobs, no need to loose out .

My Ebay Postage tips.

Weigh the packed item calculate the postage cost using ** Please log in to view **, always send using 1st class recorded. Do not use 2nd class.

Use the Paypal/Ebay buy postage option, it prints your postage label , charges your Paypal account, also emails your buyer to let them know its on the way. Saves time at the Post Office as all you do is hand it over and keep your receipt with the tracking number on it. You cannot buy 2nd class through Paypal, this is why you quote 1st class for everything .

As we all know post is expensive … so use a Courier.

Example = A 2kilo item 1st class recorded post office £9.25, 3kilos £11.25, any items 2kilos and over or bulky use a Courier.

Book through an agent  I use ** Please log in to view ** City Link 48 hr cost £9.89, a bit more I know, but it will get collected from you so no trip to the Post Office, AND its still only £9.89 up to 25kilos! (Bantam engines weigh less than 25 kilos).

If you register with a company like ** Please log in to view ** it downloads all the buyers info to your account just click pay, print the label and wait for them to collect it from you.

How many times do you see items on Ebay that are collect only because they are heavy or bulky? You can also use that to your advantage when buying collect only items. Ask the seller to pack and weigh the item (you may also need dimensions) and arrange a Courier like ** Please log in to view ** to collect and deliver to you.

There are some cheaper options on the Courier sites but City Link provide an excellent service.

I never pay the additional for insurance, its not worth it and you don't need it.

A bit more effort at your PC saves so much time in those Post Office queues.

All price examples correct at time of topic post, please check for up to date prices.
