Very nice Stu, wouldn`t mind that. Would stay mostly as it is for me, just halt the corrosion and make sure it`s safe and of course runs.

Can`t justify 2.5k at the moment personally, but wouldn`t  be surprised if it went for that, maybe even more. Seller doesn`t know what they`re waffling on about though....which can be a good sign 🙂

Excellent. Looks genuine(quickly goes to check if front guard is correct...maybe it was for `49? Where`s Hans, he`ll know). Haven`t seen many of this model about.

Front mudguard is correct, the back one is wrong. the rear light is wrong , wrong silencer and geni housing. still a nice bit of history. Do they really go for that sort of money ?

If anyone is thinking of a Dellorto carb, they appear to be making the PHBGs again:

Are you sure Dave, I thought that was a proper competition rear guard and that the front should be similar style to that rear...but I dunno. It has the seat riser and competition pegs etc , but maybe these could be bought as extras and fitted to standard bike? Probably  unlikely in `49, so perhaps original Competition model and worth a lot more than the common-or-garden std Rigid? Question for the Dating Ossifer I suppose, re dispatch details/validity.

Yes, far too steep a price if it`s a modded standard Rigid....when you see this one up for grabs . Ok it has D3/5 forks and maybe rear guard is wrong etc(a collection of spares, as I`ve been known to do), tempting nonetheless , but I really want the rare Comp model.

My bad didn't read the full description about it being a so could competition model. If it was one then surly the front mudguard would have been a aly one to match the rear ?  and the exhaust  would have been high level ? The only way for sure is to get the dating man to check the frame number. Looks like a home made one, could be wrong. either way it was done a long time ago and is a nice bit of history.

GVN 822 don't appear to be on the DVLA data base.  he might have the old buff log book, so you could still keep the reg.

Look OK Alan, but you would need to see it with your own eyes to be sure. Not a particularly good version, a bit tatty in places, but it's the right year for me - just the wrong price and place...

£2.5K ... that’s nothing how about £4K for this one!  Interesting frame though!

Goodness me, how to over-complicate & uglyfy a frame! That must be the rare twin-carb urban trials Bantam model BSA built in partnership with several other manufacturers. I think they got the Italians in to do the paint?

Hover over 1st photo to enlarge and see the two carbs...what the D*ckens is going on there?!

Its nothing like any Bantam I have ever seen.   Would be interesting to understand its provenance but I won't be buying it !!
