I guess this should go here?

I caught some of an episode of this show last night, but it didn't last long! They were butchering a (presumably untidy, I missed the start of the show) Bantam into a "trials" version which from what I saw seemed to mean stripping it, putting as many reproduction parts on as possible, (badly) fabricating a horrible exhaust that looked like it belonged on a Chinese 50, and then riding it through a few puddles.

Now, I'm not one for making a concors restoration out of something because then it becomes unusable, or costs the earth, but when almost every part is clearly wrong for the bike, I feel like they should have given it to someone who at least had some idea how to treat a classic bike.

Incidentally, they also bought a pile of junk from an auction without seeing is, and ended up with...a pile of junk, which seemed about fitting for them.

Henry Cole - professional 'biker' celebrity, seems to have opted for the Dire Straits motto: Money for nothing... Purely my opinion of course.

Hi bantammad ere just a point how is it that supposed professional bike restorers when they have been using a screwdriver as a chisel or an adjustable spanner as a hammer well in my days off training that is late 50s early 60s the workshop Forman he would have given you a smack aback o the neck that’s for sure (morons ) don’t they realise that out here there’s semi professional and time served mechanics, engineers observing the way they work. The one off the duo should know better perhaps I’m to critical have fun Les

Henry Cole Classic.

Henry turns to has great friend Sam and says " So Sam, just what is the difference between a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke engine "

Kinda says it all don't it....

Don,t get me wrong, I like his shows because they are easy watches, he has enthusiam, but you have to take it all with a pinch of salt.

I will try and find it on the ITV hub for a laugh...

Better than the idiot who, because 2 strokes are generally more powerful than 4 strokes of the same size, wanted to know how to "remove strokes" from his engine thinking they were some sort of restriction device!

Hi, its the second run of this, watched a few first time round OK for a laugh. I don't think is aimed at the likes of us more general idio sorry public. So when the sun starts to shine and they are looking for stuff to go autojumbling if you have a pile of old «censored» in the back of shed you want rid of you could on to a nice little earner.

I have to say, though, that I was very surprised it sold for so much. It's obviously just a case of the right buyer coming along at the right time. I'll be interested to see what they get for the James; which, to my eyes, is a more desirable bike than that Bantam (much as I love Bantams !)

I think its very entertaining and Henry Cole is quite amusing, but you need to understand its light entertainment and not technical in any way.

Exactly this, it’s entertainment. Henry is the only one making programs with a bikey theme so more power to his elbow. Love him or loathe him, he brings bikes to the little screen and that can only be a good thing

Current bikes......1958 D5,  and a 76 Honda C90 in the workshop.
