Wotcha.

Hmm - 170 miles or so . . . . now seeing as my accident compensation has finally been settled ( after 5½ years ) I have treated myself to . . . . . . a device that allows me to both camp and take my bikes. thumbs-up   Saying that, I'd happily give the lot back if my injuries went back too.

Wotcha.

Pre-accident I would have loaded the tent on the bike and rode down.  These days, if I load the bike then I am unable to swing my leg over in order to get on it - then, when ( if ) I arrive, I am unable to kneel down to put up a tent ( or pack it away for that matter ).

Seeing as the event seems to be a steam rally at which the Bantam club is attending, then I don't have any worries about using the trailer . . . if it was a bike rally, there would be no way I'd ever attend in a car.  Considering I used to do over a dozen rallies a year this accident has truly «censored» up my lifestyle.

EDIT - oh come on - censoring a word that rhymes with sugared.

LW it's an automatic censoring thing. It has caught me out a few times, and made me look like a potty mouthed sailor. The threshold is set very low in my opinion.

Anyway... You don't have to justify yourself to others. If you want to camp in comfort, you carry on! In fact, is there room for a small one? unsure

Bit harsh on a bloke who has, despite his injuries, ridden a Bantam from Birmingham to London Ace on 3 occasions in support of a Bantam Event, and very nearly made it 4.

Mind you, cake was on offer!

A motorcycle rally should be exactly that, i have been doing rallys for 44 years, i have ridden to all of them,  sometimes with a plaster cast and other injuries, i had to be lifted off a bike once  after i had done a 500 mile ride to a rally in france before i had my hip replaced,  when i can`t get there on a motorcycle i won`t go , simple.. sidecars are ok , trikes are borderline, trikes with midget caravans are comical, campervans should go to caravan club rallys , i started using smaller bikes when some of the ones i had were getting a bit unwieldy while i was not 100 per cent fit just to make it a bit easier,     but you make your own  choice,   i`m not trying to be harsh i just don`t understand .. sorry

I totally agree.  If I can't get there by bike, then I won't go. . . .it's called a motorcycle rally for a reason.  OK, so the organizing club usually have to use cars to transport the stuff necessary to set the rally up, but that's understandable.

I've done quite a few rallies, and would still be doing 'em if I could. ** Please log in to view ** from a few of 'em.

Back in 1994 I built the "Dog Kennel" - a "midget caravan", which I tow with one of my "borderline" trikes.  It's been around most of mainland Europe, but even this is getting a bit much to manage with this injury.

Here - have a titter at these :-->
