That sounds a good idea Steve...fingers crossed for the weather...the forecast I saw on TV before did not look to promising.

If the weather does beat us...like to think we can re-arrange soon.

Nick.

It's a little bit of a shame - because Saturday and Monday are dry... But hey ! We live in England.

there doesn't seem much wind, some sun, and we should be home or close to it for the heavier showers.

Well I'm glad I persevered with the rain and made to trip to Rivington Barn to meet Steve Jess and Mick who I rode from my house with.

Nice bunch of guys and very interesting to see other owners machines.

My first time out on a motor bike riding in the rain...bit scary but I survived and learnt a lot...thanks guys for a nice day out.

Well done Steve for cracking on and not giving up after your fuel blockage....hope you got home ok.

Nick.

Good to meet you too Nick - I had a fantastic run home 🙂

Great photos Jess - good to finally meet you too. Plaudits to Mick too - for making the epic trip over from North Wales.

At 7 am this morning the sun was shining and I thought - 'wonderful!,' - however by the time Inwas ready to set off it was chucking it down.mA waxed jacket and trousers saw me right though.

I was taking a gamble today in running with no fuel filter (it melted) - and paid the price, breaking down in Preston town centre. It's amazing how few tools you need for these bikes though and everything as in the little tool box for me to strip the carb, find an old hair clip on the pavement, clean the jets and get going again.

Onwards ! And climbing up over the moors it started to lose power. I thought the jets were blacking again - but glancing down Insaw it was spraying petrol onto the red hot cylinder and my leg. The fuel hose had split open from one end, I used my little screwdriver like a chisel and chopped the end back - and fortunately it was just long enough to fit back on.

After that everything apart from the weather fell into place.

Great to meet everyone and chat - amazing that 4 people who've never met, but share an interest, can meet and have such rapport 😀

Thank you very much everyone for coming today - kudos to everyone for beating the rain.

Well done the four of you, good to see some enthusiasm, despite the weather, these bikes were built to ride, whatever the elements decide!

Four now on the road and at least several in bits.

Yes - top notch 😀

So, the plan is a quarterly / seasonal ride. Today's (believe it or not!) was the summer one, so let's go for an Autumn ride sometime in September.

i'll put a thread up with some dates and hopefully we'll get a nice sunny day 🙂

Just to add...so nice to see a D1 in the flesh...not seen one before Steve...yours is a littler stunner...you must be so happy with it.

Worth going just to see it...but I wish I had thought to ask if I could have a sit on it.

Nick.

Happy just to be able to have a sit on it and have my picture taken...I would be far to nervous to ride it...but thanks for the offer Steve.

I'll put a thread up soon for the next one - with a suggested date and so on - perhaps sometime around mid September.

I might try and get the D7 done in time, so we both need to get some garage time in over the next month 🙂
