No, the packs go into a polystyrene box which keeps the blood at temperature for about 2 hours. At an estimated £200 per pack I could be carrying up to £2,000 worth of blood on the Banty.

Doug Brown posted a picture of the bike with one small box (they also use larger boxes but still carry the same number of packs) a while ago, but I cannot find it at the moment.

Yes they have, it's a rip roaring D14S updated to 12 volts with a B175 engine! Just as good as the Gold Star on local deliveries! (for those of a weaker constitution, most of my deliveries are by car due to the number of boxes or time of night when I get called). But I have used the Bantam and Gold Star for really urgent deliveries to St. Thomas'. We have three levels of urgency: 1 we need it NOW' 2 we need it by a particular time (usually to allow an operation to take place or stocks will be used up by then) and finally 3 for use tomorrow morning (before the daily NHS delivery arrives).

I've known St Thomas to delay placing very urgent orders until we come on because they know we will deliver more quickly than the NHS urgent delivery service.
