CBS03A_A5P-Ad_club-template_2013_fv.jpgThe organisers have confirmed that we've been given a pretty large floorspace in a prime location for this most excellent event. It's advertised as the 'Classic Motorbike Show' which can be a bit confusing, as the modern Bike Show takes place at the NEC soon after. This is the huge end-of-season jamboree that's a must for any classic vehicle enthusiast. It takes a whole day just to walk around both the car and bike bits. Attendance routinely exceeds 30,000 - bigger than Ben Hur.

We're hoping to mark the Bantam's 65th birthday at this show. A few early rigid D1s on the stand would fit the bill! So this is a request for members who've got up-to-snuff Bantams who would be prepared to exhibit their bikes. The set-up day is anytime on the Thursday through until the evening; break-down is the Sunday afternoon or the Monday morning. Exhibiting members get free entry passes. We'll have a crew on the stand throughout and security is first rate. Exhibitors don't have to attend each day - just take a turn helping to man the Club stand when they're there.

Mike Kilvert hasn't gone firm on the layout yet: but expect a GPO Bantam display; racers; trials Bantams; the 2014 Raffle Bike; a range of road bikes; and the usual literature and backdrop displays.

If you haven't helped out at a show - this is a terrific event to be a part of. You don't need to be a Bantam anorak: just an enthusiast with a sense of humour. If you want to know more: Club members will find Mike's details in the Banter; or PM/e-mail me.

Not sure of what use I'd be, but I've got my tickets printed out and I don't mind standing in whilst someone takes a 'comfort' break. No bike though unless you want a box of rusty bits as a 'before'laugh

Cheers Col

FB Falcon 87 needs wiring to finish. Ariel Arrow on the back burner, MZ125 running, Royal Enfield Classic love it, Velo LE waiting for spares, Simson Schwalbe now 12v and running.

Wotcha.

That's me «censored» then 'cos I use mine and it's far from standard laugh . . . . and the one I don't use ain't been rebuilt yet . . . but if there's anything I could to to help - I only live about half an hour away from the NEC.

Col - you would be most welcome on the Club stand. Just let us know which day you're planning to attend - and we'll keep 'em peeled. And yep, Anne will have a good stock of Club merchandise available. For any folks - if there's anything in particular that you want (eg how many binders): again, let us know and she'll ensure that the goodies are held back for you.

LW - you'll also be a welcome addition. As you're probably aware: you specifically should be able to park pretty close to Hall 6, which is where we'll be. I've read in another thread that you're proper crook at the moment - hope things ain't too bad.

Mike Kilvert is now back 'ome from his hols - so any volunteers (bodies, bikes, or both) should think about getting in touch soonest.

Cheers. My good lady and myself will be attending on Saturday. As this will be the first bike show we've both done in nearly 20 years (me BMF '96 and her NEC bit before that) we'll be trying to see as much as possible...but we'll sit in for a while if anyone is in need of comfort stops! Definitely need a binder and I'm making an educated guess that we could be freeing one of the bears from his ordeal of being shut in a box with a load of other bears, and taking him (or her) back to Yorkshire to enjoy the scenery and be with the other nutters!

Cheers Col

The Club stand is coming together nicely! Mike Kilvert has gathered together a good mix of road Bantams (including a couple of Basil's bikes); Trials machines; GPO Bantams; hopefully one of the recent record-breaking Bonneville Salt Flats racers (if it gets back to the UK in time); Gordon May's 'Overland to Egypt' D1; and Dunk's early D1 in AA livery. Something like about 16-18 Bantams in all. Rex Caunt and his better half Debra will be there, offering technical advice on mods, electronic ignitions, and bits. Anne Kilvert is placing last-minute orders for clothing etc, and any member who's thinking of attending the show might like to consider giving her a call to pre-order stuff. If anyne has any queries - contact Mike Kilvert by landline phone or e-mail (see the last Bantam Banter magazine).

Col, LW, Crowman et al - hope you can make it and we're looking forward to meeting you over the course of the weekend! For anyone still making up their mind - this event is bigger than Ben Hur; an absolute 'must' for any classic petrolhead; and it's an event that'll take you all day to walk around. It's well worth the ticket price. And, of course, it's the 65th birthday of not only our own illustrious machine - but also t'other Mist Green icon, the Moggie Minor. Makes you proud to be British. Keep calm and be there.

I'm doing this here post, just in order to keep this event bubbling along in folks' minds - as it's just a few days away. It's all set to be a great spectacle and it's so good, that even my wife is coming along. For anyone still wavering: take the plunge, make a day of it, come say hello on the Club stand, and marvel at the breadth of enthusiasm for the hobby that we share.

Should be easy to find the stand, in the middle, next door to the BSA OC and opposite the Goldstar Owners. Really looking forward to this coming weekend having seen the map of who is there.
