Wotcha.

There's every chance that the D14 Sports I bought from down your neck of the woods will be up and running by then . . . .failing that I'm sure I can find another BSA in the garage laugh

If I'm around on the 24th I'll be there.

just 25 miles from me and a cracking ride on the B6047.  Some great rural lanes between MH and Oakham/Medborne/Uppinham/Melton

After a couple of e-mails in clarification: the BSA OC have extended an invitation to our Club to attend their Rally as guests on the same basis as their own members. Their aim is to gather as many Bantams and enthusiasts as they can. We figured that some of our Club's folks might want to make a 'sally to their rally' in response to their kind invitation - and this is borne out by the thread above.

The BSA OC are hoping that 'non-members' will visit on their Open Day of Sunday 24 May, when they want to gather as many Bantams as possible. But they do understand that some of our folks might come from further afield and may want to travel early; stay overnight before/after; and/or make a long weekend of it. So their Committee has said that our Club members can camp for the same fees as their Club members; avail themselves of the site's facilities and first-rate entertainment that they've organised; and join their ride-outs. Anyone wishing to camp MUST book in advance, paying £15 for a tent and £20 for a campervan/trailer tent. There's a link to the booking form, on Doug's post above. I'm afraid that 'Forum-only' members who might wish to camp will have to also pay the discounted joining fee.

Mike & Anne Kilvert will be there, putting up our large Club marquee as a focal point for any Bantam Club members who wish to attend (if we put up a tent as a shelter, then you can be pretty sure that it won't rain). Members will need to present their Club membership cards to gain admittance outwith the Open Day as it's a closed venue. If you decide to attend and camp - then it would help if you could let Mike Kilvert know so that he can make appropriate arrangements.

We're keen to promote this, because it's a Bantam-related event and the invite is a friendly gesture on the part of the BSA OC. Our own Club Rally is still firm on the calendar - and, y'know, we might just invite BSA OC Bantam-folk along to our Rally, in reciprocation.

I've been contacted by the BSA OC Rally organisers, who are making final arrangements and wondering how much space to allow us on their infield area.

At the moment, we only seem to have 'day trippers;' and Mike & Anne Kilvert have had to drop out so they won't be there with our tentage for the weekend. But 'Travelling Man' Mark (who appears on the front cover of the latest Bantam Banter magazine) has a foot in both camps, and he'll be there as a useful point of contact during the BSA OC Rally.

Are there any Club (or Forum) members who are intending to make a weekend of it, but who haven't booked in yet? If so, could I politely encourage you to do so.

Hi all,

i'm a BSAOC member too. Trying to decide if i'll go for the bantam day or for the whole weekend. What are the rules about driving in a new fangled car, pitching a tent and possibly having to bring a small dog with me? I thougt it would be nice to meet some of the bantamites in the real world. I don't trust the bantam to make it all the way to Market Harborough from Fareham so it will have to be Ford Focus- apologies in advance.

We are going just for the Saturday/Sunday under our bsaoc membership and do not require camping as we have accommodation elsewhere. We are however bringing the bantams, well it would be rude not to wouldn`t it. cheersthumbs-up

Thats a shame as It would have been the main focal point , sort of a bantam island in a sea of a10`s and 65`s. Nothing bad I hope?

Dookie - no problem with you booking in and camping for the weekend; just follow the link that Doug put in post number 6 above, and that'll take you to the BSA OC's booking form. You can then also pose the question about taking the wee pooch.

Doug - Mike & Ann have had to drop out due to family commitments; naught serious.

My mrs Sara didn`t want to ride the 100 odd miles to the rally which meant a trailer but I wanted to ride to the rally which meant she had to drive on her own with trailer and bike. There was the problem in a nut shell because she had never towed a trailer with a bike on and we had never been to the site before.

I started off from home in very hot sunshine but it got colder the further north I went and regretted not wearing my jacket liner.I was however enjoying the fosse way ,well once I had cleared the tourist trap of moreton on the marsh that is! In fact I was enjoying it a little too much as I was perhaps pushing the bike a little harder than normal because normally I adjust my speed to the slower pace of Sara`s bike. I arrived in Market Harborough and when waiting for a set of lights I noticed a strange vibration and a distinct change in the engine note. I think the big end may have very little life left and is ripe for an overhaul very soon. People say that knackered big ends rumble and I know what they mean now. Good job Sara brought the trailer with her then.clap       Apart from mechanical woes and I wasn`t alone in having them it was great to be there and meet some wonderful people. We counted around thirty different bantams and I have never seen such a gathering. I`m really glad we went.

Wotcha.

Glad to see you've got back ok - we spent an hour or so at Foxton locks then headed back.  The B175 ran just fine, the D14 had a bit of a problem, but nothing serious . . . . . .report to follow.

Great to see so many Bantams and such a variety.

130 mile round trip only marred by shedding the chain (literally on the round-a-bout outside the venue!) due to broken split link after a faultless 65 mile ride in.

I made it back home OK using the (slightly too wide) split link donated by a kind BSA Owners Club Member (sorry, so engrossed in fixing the problem, I neglected to get your name but a bigthank-youanyway) and thanks to everyone else who tried to help, especially Doug and Sara who offered to lend me a complete chain from one of their bikes if I couldn't get hold of a split link.

(Note to self, it's no good taking tools if you don't have spares!)
