'Fraid I'll have to give this a miss . . . having laser eye surgery on September 24th, so riding will be off the cards for a while.

Crikey  Wolf it's like a handing over of the batton of sickness.  I had my gallbladder  out a week ago and am on the mend.  You are going in for laser surgery. Well good luck my friend and I hope the temporary discomfort soon passes. It's a real shame  because you have Been there every year since it's inception if I'm right. I'm preparing  the bike but it's more in hope than anything.  Everyone is telling me to take it easy. They know we well. A good fry up and cake ........mmmmm 🤗

I've been preparing the bike for a week. I even bought a new rev'it jacket. Watching the weather forecast daily but alas Its all in vain. Having done some test rides it's me who's not up to it. It's only four weeks since surgery and If I'm honest 30 miles and I'm exhausted for the rest of the day. 60 miles and I'm knackered  for 24 hours. 180 miles for the round journey is out of the question. The will is there but the flesh is weak. My mate Len says he's going, watch out for him and give him a friendly welcome. He has a very well worn b175 (red) and he wears a rukka jacket. Sigh, maybe next year.

Good thinking PeterG, Hanger Lane on the Central Line is the nearest station just up the road. Sorry to hear about Mr Wolf not being able to come, he always puts everyone to shame by travelling many miles to get there. Hope the surgery is successful. I normally ride there but I'm taking the Gazebo this year to give us more of a "focus" so I'm afraid "Billie" will be strapped to the back of the car.

The more the merrier!

The nearest station is Stonebridge Park, on the Bakerloo line. Almost opposite The Ace are the railway line bridges crossing the North Circular and the station is on the other side, up an approach road. So turn right, walk down to the North Circular and turn right again under the bridges. Perhaps a 3 - 4 minute walk

Wotcha.

I missed 2013 - got as far as Stokenchurch, then twisted my "good" knee in the cafe there.  Ended up in Stoke Mandeville hospital until Wednesday.  Last year I had already booked that weekend away.

My eye should have been done last Monday, but the surgeon was stranded in Vienna due to a cancelled flight . . . so they did it at nine o'clock this morning.  On the positive side - I can now see clearly without glasses.

I was told that some one came down from Kings Lynn, but they had left to go home before I arrived.

One member came from Norwich and another from Suffolk if my memory serves me right. The Norwich man done the trip in three hours I must have been the shortest distance of 9.8 miles, all on the A406.

I came down from King's Lynn, left home about 6am and got to the cafe 09:30 ish.

Included in that time was at least one wrong turn and a pee up a tree.

A10 mainly all the way.

Rode the Bantam all the way from King's Lynn.

I meant A10 then A142 then A14 then A11 a little bit of A505 then back onto A10 to the Ace Cafe.

Mainly A10.

Will have to be full summer before I try that trip again.
