The Bay to Birdwood vintage run was held down here in sunny Adelaide, South Australia, this past Sunday. With about a 1,000 pre-1956 cars bikes and commercial vehicles taking part in a 70km run from the foreshore down at Glenelg up through the hills to the National Motor Museum at Birdwood.

I thought you might like to see some of the Bantams that braved the hills and made it out to Birdwood. No Bantam for me as I rode the M20 out there, having spent the week preparing it for the event.

Enjoy!

A nice unrestored D1

A nice Francis Barnett with a rather familiar looking engine!

And me on my M20 riding along with an Army Duck.

Just don't keep anything you want to stay there in the toolbox! It won't be there after a couple of bumps!

And I've been corrected on my army duck comment. The correct answer is that:

"That isn't an Army Duck, it's a Ford GPA also known by it's nickname The Seep.
Ford was the only producer of it, it has nearly all the same running gear of the Ford GPW jeep with a hull."

It kept up a good pace on the run and through the hills though. Great fun to ride with!

Sorry don't have any shots of the whole event. It's a bit hard to get a wide shot of such a big event!

Gedday Stamps,

Beat me by a flash about the Amphibious Jeep - should have grabbed it and stuck it in your back pocket.

Those things are worth BIG BUCKS!!!

The latest Restored Cars magazine has an article on them - one is for sale for $130,000 ! It could be the one you saw.

Thanks Jack! Damn, I should have asked if they wanted to swap!

That's a lot of bikes there for 130k! That being said, being able to drive down to the beach with all your fishing gear and just keep driving could be worth it. I'm guessing the mounted .50 cal is for when the fisheries inspectors come along? :D
