I went to the Bantam day at the Ace Cafe last year, but I'm surprised that there are no photos of the day on the home page.

I know it was a few months back and I've only just looked on the Events Forum to find details of the day. Hidden within ** Please log in to view **. I would have thought that such a great turn-out of Bantams would have been 'Front Page News'?

Also, nothing in Bantam Banter - except for a short article about Mole Benn along with some photos of his bike. I don't understand why such a great meeting has received almost zero coverage? It's the first one I've attended on my own D1 and it was fascinating to see so many in one place.

Most of the coverage within the forum was with people discussing their ailments!

Don't get me wrong: I think the club is great, and I've received a huge amount of help and advise from club members, I just don't understand why the day has received so little attention. I only found out about it from an advert in a classic bike magazine.

I believe there is a degree of antagonism between the Bantam Club and the event organiser (or the other way around).

You have to remember that the Bantam club does not promote all things Bantam !!!!!!

Personally, I never get involved in petty politics, I just enjoy riding my Bantam and meeting other bikers. Sometimes I think people take themselves too seriously: we have enough trouble on this planet with religion, never mind getting upset over a motorbike.

Maybe the two people involved should shake hands and start having some fun?

I have been informed by several of my customers about this post.

Just to put the records straight there is no animosity between myself and the club or its membership. I own and run Bournemouth Bantams so it is not in my interest to alienate Bantam owners.

I spent a number of years serving the club on a voluntary basis, many of you will have had your bikes dated me when I was the club dating officer and benefited from my input on this forum. Not having posted on here for over a year I see I am still listed as one of the top posters.

I became very disillusioned with certain members of the committee when being accused of pocketing club funds by doing private dating’s, as well as facing a challenge at an AGM to oust me as dating officer in favour of putting the job to an outside organisation which would charge the club more than the club was charging the membership, my services were supplied free to the membership. This challenge was removed when the feelings of the attending membership were made felt to the individual involved, and he openly admitted his challenge was based purely on the fact that he personally did not like me. This is recorded in the AGM minutes.

Various other things about the way the club was being managed came to light which worried both me and other members of the then committee, eventually lead to some of us deciding that we had no option other than to resign our positions.

Two years ago there was a plan to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the setting up of the club, an event was scheduled but had to be cancelled for what reason I don’t know. I had already arranged for the meeting at the ACE café and contacted the committee and volunteered it as the anniversary celebration, despite the previously mentioned problems. I had no response from the committee at all, in fact the message that came back through the grape vine, when some club members were asked if they would be attending was “ It is not an official club gathering so no one from the club will be attending” in actual fact some did.

So when the 2013 event was being organised I offered it to the British Two stroke Club as an event, as I am a serving member of the committee and the club dating officer , they were more than happy to add it to their calendar of events, the whole event was opened out to any classic two stroke. And as many of you attended you will be we aware that over 40 bikes and there owners turned up, MZ, Ariel’s, and even Japanese two strokes.  We had 20+ bikes go on the short ride up to the London Motorcycle museum and back again and a very successful day it was.

Next year’s event is already booked for the 28th September and again will form part of the British Two Stroke cub calendar of events so any two stroke is welcome. I thank the more enlightened members of the club who posted many pictures of the event and hope to see you there this year.

Regards Howard Blakeborough

If any people cared to look at the events calendar ... I put the Ace meeting on there ... after Barry asked when it was and Lone Wolf suggested what the date was ... I then put it on the calender a good couple of months before it happened ... there were several updates about the run out etc advised at the time

I did notice the events posting from you Kat hence the comment in my final paragraph.

I hope to see you there this year wolfie your cake was very nice last year everyone said so. Unfortunately it was not a fruit cake so I was not able to keep it till this year, and had to eat it.  Keep of the steak pies in garden centres.

Hope you are all keeping well Howard

I did pick up on that Howard and I do pop over to BBF occasionally just to make sure you and DD are behaving yourselves

Everyone loved your Ace again last year so I'm glad to hear it's on again this year ... I expect someone will add it to the events calender as I no longer have the permissions

Keep well

Both the Banter and the Club's website rely on members sending in their stories and pictures for publication and no one sent anything in about the Ace event. The picture on the front cover of the Banter of Mole Benn was taken by me as were the ones inside that accompanied the text.  I was trying to show something different rather than a row of standard Bantams all lined up without their owners.

Paul, who looks after the website, also posted over 50 pictures of the event on the Forum, so we certainly didn't ignore it.

As I keep printing in every issue of the magazine, 'the Banter needs your stories', so please send them in.  We can't print what we haven't got.

PS So far nothing has been received from Club or Forum members for the March edition, so please get writing!

I now understand - from the posts on this subject - what has been going, so I'm backing out of the subject now. However, if I can make it again this year to the Ace Cafe meet-up, or any other events, I will take photos and write an article for inclusion in the Bantam Banter. I suppose that I - like others, assume someone else will do it, and as David Jordon says, he needs our articles.

Its probably because its still a bit sore as wounds go. I was dissapointed not to read more about it but assumed someone else would have written it when in reality I could have. Shame really, but there you go. I brought along a mate of mine and we made good time all the way into London from Swindon. We get on the busiest  of junctions on the A40 and his throttle cable broke. We jury rigged it and made it to the Ace.

Sara had elected to bring the car and trailer for the return journey and ended up getting a little lost and ended up at terminal 5 Heathrow!!!!! She was very relieved for me to drive on the way home. Pretty normal as trips to the Ace go.
