If I were coming from Bedford on a D1 (or B175 with a car wheel I picked up from Bedford) I wouldn't consider using the motorway.

A6 to Luton, A1081 Harpenden, St Albans, Borehamwood, Edgeware and down to the North Circular.

A nicer route is via Dunstable, Whipsnade, Berkhampstead, Amersham, Gerards Cross and the A40.

See you there?

I am no good without a sat nav & theres no place on the handle bars for it.

Have fun people.  Would love to come but cant see L plates being allowed to the motorway & be far to ride on A roads. Maybe next year.

Wotcha.

Please don't let my Bantam know that it's too far to ride on A roads - so far the bike ain't worked it out wink

Mums the word.

Ok people found this quite interesting, dont know if it has been mentioned before but Brent Council are making it difficult for people to access the Ace Café if this continues the Ace may end up closing due to lack of customers.

Rainsford Road is not used to access The Ace (see below) it's a nearby road that has been used in an inappropriate manner.Ace_Rainsford.jpg

A few pictures of the 'Ace' day out arranged by Howard, I've left out the non-Bantam pics, apart from that, I think I got them all (apologies to any I might have missed)

Thanks PK for the photos and Howard for organising the day.

That's a fair variety of bikes and styles.

Wish I'd got up there but you just can't do everything....

Wotcha.

Well the stitches are due to come out of the right knee on Tuesday . . . . so tomorrow I just might see if the the "kickstart leg" still works well enough to start a BSA.

Watch this space.

Great pics, really enjoyed them.Must get out and about on at least one of my Bantams next year, didn`t make it this year.

Can`t keep up with your battle scars LW.Knee now?

My left one had bike parts removed from it in `85 and I`m trying to prolong it`s life.My Dad has just had his replacement replaced after 16 years.Only supposed to last ten. They had to hammer rods into his bones, fit a hinged affair and use plenty of cement(not kidding)Physio galore to get damaged muscles working again, and nine weeks later he resat his car test and passed.Just turned ninety end of Sept. Can`t see me lasting that long, they built them well pre-nuclear age.His injuries came from Rugby and WW2 RAF crash.

Wotcha.

Short version.

Going to the Ace Cafe meet - stopped for dinner on the way.

Sat eating dinner, managed to twist right leg ( the "good" leg" ) resulting in torn cartilage.

Surgery at Stoke Mandeville hospital - stitches to come on on Tuesday

But the good news . . . . . I managed to start the bike with no problem, took it for MOT where it passed thumbs-up

Good to know they`ve fixed you again LW .... and that you`re bike passed its medical toocool

My Dad had cartilage removed from both knees after his stint playing rugby for Huddersfield, which led to his problems.

Every time I see a soccer player do a celebration skid on his knees I wincecant-look

Glad to hear you're on the mend (again) LW.

They always say that eating pies can be dangerous. Or fish and chips. You just never know when they'll turn on you.

You'll need to stick to less hazardous and well-meaning foods like cake and .....ale (no heat see, not like tea or coffee).popcorncheers

....and whatever you do,if you end up at the seaside, mind those seagulls, they`ll have your eye out! They love pie and chips but their eyes are close together, so sometimes not too accurate with their beak aim.Keep your shades on and stick to the coleslawcool

Just had another look at the excellent photos and was thinking of the total man(and woman?)hours that went into them, collectively.
