East Sussex Area Update:
A big Thank You to those who attended our first meeting on 16th June and to those who sent ‘apologies’.
The meeting was well attended, a few new faces introduced to one another and a very convivial evening took place.
I am pleased to say that we now have sufficient entries to make the FoT in August a viable proposition. This really is a great show that is very well attended and if you are able to attend to help run the stand then you will have a pass for free entry; there you bribes already! I will of course need to know names of those attended well in advance, so get in quickly please! More details to follow but if you are unable to bring a bike but have some time free to help run the stand on one of the three days then that would be most helpful. Contact me if you wish further details.
There was a general feeling that members present would prefer riding to static shows and we should be able to cater for all tastes. I hope that by next summer we will have had the chance to be a little more organised but here are a few dates for you diary on events should you wish to attend one or more:
Invitation to VMCC run from Ashburnham for 2-strokes. 1900hrs 4 July (John will provide more details)
Ringmer Steam Fair 29 / 30 July
Hooe Motor Club Show 6 August
Laughton Country Show 9 / 10 August
FoT 26 / 27 / 28 August
‘Brightona’, Brighton 8 October (More details to follow)
Hastings Vintage & Classic Show 14 October
South of England Showground, Classic Show & Autojumble 29 October
In addition there is a possibility of a run to Spa Valley Railway, details to follow.
A “Not Another Christmas Dinner”, but in January 2018 when our waistlines have recovered and catering prices dropped……. Details to follow
YOUR IDEAS / SUGGESTIONS FOR ANYTHING ELSE TO ME PLEASE.
The meeting was amazed to hear that I don’t have a Bantam on the road at this time! Oh dear, Sorry. Long story but suffice to say that I am having a cull of my off-road fleet at present and hope to have remedied my failing by the end of summer. Meantime if you or anybody else has a Bantam for sale please let me know.
WANTED: Ian stripped a thread on his D3 flywheel nut. Anybody have a spare they can let him have? (He may be sorted by now but these are the sort of thigs clubs are for, n’est pas?
FINALLY: Date of next meeting Friday 21st July at The White Hart Lower Horsebridge; 1930 hrs. I will be on holiday but John will be leading you out on a nice run through leafy lanes for about 45 minutes. John is good at these things so please support him, give your bike a run and have fun!
Subsequent meetings, same location, 3rd Friday of each month.
Best Regards to all of you,
Roy
