The 46th Powderham Historic Vehicle Gathering was held in the grounds of the beautiful Powderham Castle, Kenton, Devon on the weekend of the 14th July. Our Devon branch were proudly displaying our bikes over the weekend, and the show was as ever a really enjoyable mixture of eclectic historic vehicles in a wonderful setting. On the Saturday we had over 12 bikes on display, and we were both surprised and honoured to be joined on the Bantam stand by two Bantam road racers (see photo below):

Bantam-Powderham-2019.jpgPowderham2019-7133.jpg

Left: Nobby Clark (77) - road racer from 1960s, rode TT, and raced a Bantam as well as a works Norton with Agostini, Mike Hailwood, Tony Rutter amongst others.
Right: Bob Saunders 75 - also a road racer, spent more time on mainland circuits 1960s, talked of 100mph Bantams, knew George Todd, and all about the 'Todd head'!

Thank you to all who made our attendance at the show possible, including the club itself for helping fund the stand and entrance fees, thank you to all who brought their bikes along, and special thanks go to Bernard, Dave and Brian who both set up and took down the stand, as well as ‘Bushman’ John, Bob, Mike, Steve, Phil and everyone else who brought their bikes along too. If you’d like to be involved next year, let us know in advance.

Friday 23rd August - Devon BSA Bantam Club ride to Moretonhampstead Motor Museum, lunch in Moretonhampstead/Dartmoor

Finally, I’ve talked to ** Please log in to view **, owner Frank there is a font of knowledge so I’ll propose a ride out meeting 10:30 to Bovey Tracey cafe 360 to ride there for 11:00 -  £7 each entry or £6 if we’re a group over 10. RSVP let me know if you’re planning to come! Would be great to see you there, bring a friend with a bike if you can and we can see if we can get over 10 of us!
