I have recently acquired what is a Bantam D7 I believe. Which has frame number 5807 on the left engine mounting bracket and a engine number GD7 5807 on the left crank case under the carburetor.

I would appreciate any help on finding history of this motorcycle and hopefully its original registration number.

From the searches I could make I seem to believe it is a 1966 D7 but that is as far as I could get using the GD7 prefix

I would also like to know things like its original trim and colour as it has been hand painted red at some point if this is at all possible.

i am just unsure of my next move in this area

Hi Tim many thanks for the information you have found for me regarding this. I will of course check see if the GD7 is infact stamped on the right hand engine mount.

As regards to finding its registration number what would be my next move ? and is this a possibility ?

I am sorry for firing these questions in quick succession but I am new to this process. Although I own a number of motorbikes I have none as old as this and they are for the most part registered.

Again many thanks for your time and help

Regards Gavin

Hi Gavin

What paperwork/documantation do you have with the bike? is it registered IE , V5C ,if not, do you have an old log book ? that way you can reclaim the original registration number.

If you don't have any , then you will need to complete an application for an age related plate  .

I don't have the records to check for the original registration , I can only look at the BSA factory records and get the details when the machine was manufactured and despatched .

Please try the link to this website for the options of regeristing a machine, it is straight forward and not that daunting .
