Hi Felix,

B175 kickstarter shaft is wider then all the other Bantams.  This is to add strength as it was possibly recognised as an area of weakness that needed improvement.

The hole in the outer cover is also wider to accept the wider shaft.

I can send you a spring if you can PM me an address.

Have a look in FAQs, in the index (first post). Also try improving brakes site:bsabantamclub.com/forum in your browser (moteur de recherche).

Hey !

I received all parts needed for my bantam .

Tomorow i’ll start the change of kickstart shaft. I saw that i need to remove the basket clutch, but to do that, do i need to dissasemble the upper engine ? To untight the clutch nut for example !

First time i’ll do this sort of thing. Hopefully with all videos available on internet and the great forum here i’ll do it correctly !

There's a good site covering strip-down and reassembly (it's for a D7, but very similar apart from the ignition) here: ** Please log in to view **

Hi Felix,

You do not need to strip the upper engine or the left hand side cover  to replace the kickstart mechanism but you will need to remove the primary chain and the clutch assembly to get in there.  It is possible to do this without removing the clutch but its very difficult.   The best way to free off the clutch centre nut is to use the Rex Caunt clutch locking tool or to make a tool yourself to lock the clutch up. ( see elsewhere in the forum),   After that the job is straightforward.   Make sure you put a good tension on the spring, otherwise you will suffer from a limp kickstarter.

Take care

Hey !

The job is done ! Not so easy to re fit the clutch plates And spring with the engine mounted alone but its done now’ !

There were no clutch cover plate on . I ordered one .

I have à little problem with the speedo drive on the rear wheel. I think its worn out . The new speedometer cable don’t turn when the wheel is turning .

I saw we can use the one used on bsa c15 to replace it ?

Thanks you all foryour help and tips, very kind !

Hey ,

There is some news !

I receveid the clutch cover plate witch was missing on my bantam . Now it's fixed !

I asked my dad to fix the primary chain cover by laser welding . The kick was certainly the wrong one and damage the cover !

There is the before/after pictures !

I am waiting the speedo drive , i bought 2:1 ratio , i didn't find the 19:10 . I'll go a bit faster lol
