Hi all,  Nearly 10 years ago I lined my D14 Fuel Tank with Sureseal from 'Tank Care Products' and it's been fine ever since - until now !  The sealant is now cracking and coming off in large flakes.  Has anyone else had this problem with this product ?  I know the ethenol content has been increased again in the fuel from the garage forecourts and this might be too much and it's now attacking the liner ?

Yes, if it was done 10 years ago its likely that it was not ethanol proof.  There are sealant removers that you can use to remove the old sealant and then re-apply with an ethonol proof sealant. Tank care Products have it all on their site.

Sorry for late response - been away.  I got out the original paperwork and order that came from Tank Care Products and the liner was sold as being 'Ethinal proof' ?  I telephoned TCP but had to leave a message since no one answered the phone - possibly lockdown ?  Alas they never returned my call so I guess I'll have to try and contact them again.

Yep - I used Sureseal on two Bantam tanks, maybe 12 years ago. The seal has cracked and has started to flake off, on both tanks. I spoke to a number of experienced people at a couple of shows before the Lockdown and it seems that this stuff has a finite life. It doesn't last forever and the increase from 5% Ethanol to 10% in standard forecourt petrol will just exacerbate things. Sadly, this seems pretty common despite exorbitant sales claims made over 10 years ago
