I have serviced my front wheel bearings on my Bantam Sports D10. On reassemble I have found there is a small gap between the dust cap and circlip (left hand side of wheel). Reading the workshop manual, there should be a shim between the bearing and the dust cover on the Sports model. This is missing. Where I can get the shim and a new circlip? Anyone know the size and thickness of the shim.

The dust cap and circlip seem to be the only parts holding the left hand bearing in place. Is this the way it should be? I ask this because the circlip is easily knocked out when the spindle is tapped with a mallet from the right hand side. I am not feeling that is very safe. Maybe better with a new circlip.

That  (5701) is common to the D7 wheels too, but no shim is shown for the D7.

It does seem a little feeble for the job now you mention it but I don’t know of anyone having an issue.  I do however have a D7 hub which looks in good condition overall but the groove for the circlip is very close to the edge and chunks have broken off .... I won’t be using that hub!
