Just wondering if anyone knows the internal thread size of the standard (knurled, chrome with circlip) side panel screws? Are they fitted on both L/H and R/H sides, or does L/H use oddie clips?

Finally, is the threaded rod which the side panel screws attach to an integral part of the inner panel detachable or is it welded in?

Sorry for such strange questions, but I'm having a nightmare about attaching my panels, given the previous owner's butchery by removing original attachments and replacing with internally-threaded tubes, and fixing the side panels on with Allen screws. I want to use the proper fixings, but will need to replace tubes with bolts which the chrome screws can attach to. All advice appreciated!IMG_20181029_072822.jpg

Sunny is right no one would be that horrified if you retained this arrangment. You could hunt down some roofing bolts which mimic the originals a bit better.** Please log in to view **

Thanks for the advice, those knurled screws and roofing bolts on eBay would look the part certainly, but they are metric threads. I took one of the Allen screws to a local fastener shop and they measured the thread - 5/16 BSF. A quick look online shows not a lot of choice in that size, but I have ordered 4 slot head stainless screws which will at least hold on the panels and look OK until something better turns up.

Try Kidderminster Motorcycles. It is the type of fastener they would stock.
