Hi all,

I've been looking at my clutch assembly and would appreciate an explanation of the reason for it's existence.

I can see the pushrod pushes outwards onto the pressure plate to release the pressure, is the thrust washer to do with the opposite forces please?

hi  Richard  cars  have  a thrust  washer or bearing   Bantams have  a  thrust  BALL    bearing    beside  the ajuster  thay are  simply  to  reduce  the  rotaion   of  the  cluch  wen it  is  being  used  to change  gear    only , a gap  must be present    to prvent over heating  the bearings   wen the  cluch is  relesed

thank you Sunny,

I knew about the ball bearing between the 2 pushrods behind the near side adjuster . But it was the thrust washer the is part of the clutch basket mechanism - I was trying to understand its function.

when you pull the clutch lever in , it pushes the pushrod and ball bearing and the mushroom head lifts the pressure plate to release the clutch - I couldn't understand the reverse forces that needed a thrust release race behind the clutch basket.

thank you anyway - just can't get my head round it !!!

hi  Richard     bush  1733  gives  you  the  FREE  play between   the  cluch plats   wen  the  cluch  is  ussed   you may  have  two  size it  as  the  old one  may be  to short   its  between  4  & 8 thow  on  the  3  speed modles    ,, sorry  i cannot  find  the  size  for  the  4 speed  modles   ,,,  the  thrust BALL brearing   is  NOT  fited  between  the cluch  push  rods      ,it  fited  between the  long rod &  screw ajuster  inside   90/ 180
