Hello, last winter I built a 1967 3-speed D10 that I bought as a basket case. After some initial problems it is now running pretty well and I've clocked up about 250 miles. However, on the last couple of runs the bike started to lurch in second gear at the high end of the rev range. Today I took it out for a spin and it was lurching in second gear throughout the rev range i.e. even at low revs. I suspect I may have a broken tooth on one of the gear cogs although I would expect it to jump out of gear in this case and as checking this will involve a complete engine strip I was wondering if it could be something else; perhaps related to the clutch. I should add that I have had to keep adjusting the clutch which has been slackening off and I have had to shorten the inner cable to take up the slack. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks and regards, Andy.

Hi Andy and welcome to the forum.

Please add a small intro to yourself when you get a minute and if possible put your general location in your profile.

To find information I find the best way to search is by using google. For your problem I put the following into google

d10 lurching in 2nd site:bsabantamclub.com

and it brought up this ** Please log in to view ** and a lot of other pages

copy and paste it into google and try it

change the red writing to search for anything on the site

Hi Mick, many thanks for your response which has been extremely helpful. Having read some of the other post relating to my problem I now have a clear idea of what I need to do and look for and will start the strip down next week. Thanks again and regards, Andy.

Your very welcome Andy. You will find a mass of information on the site and some very experienced Bantam enthusiasts. Ask away if you can’t find an answer somebody will respond.

Enjoy the repairs and the bike

Mick
