Evening again.

Can any tell me if there are different cable lengths ? Mine seems far to short but the parts listing is only for one.

Thanks

Barrie.

Hi Barrie,

they do indeed come in different lengths, I’ve just bought a 58” version for my Bushman, I’ll let you know how it fits.

Thanks Stu,

Mine looks to be about 6 inches short.

I must measure it.

Cheers. B.

Hi Barrie.
This subject was discussed a couple of months ago and the consensus was that the correct cable length is 58".
I have posted a link to the thread below.

Hello again,

Think I may have been having a brain fade moment when I asked about the cable. I was trying to route it down the front tube & under the engine, thinking this was the most direct route.

Looking at it this morning I changed it's route to under the tank & down the centre tube. Lo & behold it fits !!

Senior moment.

Annoying thing is I can't remember where it went when I took it off 18 months ago.

Age & memory !!

all  the  photos    basicly   show   modle  with  D  shaped  spedos  the  cable   under  the tank    NOT   wot    i  like   so mine  go   like  the D 7 onward down  the  frunt  fram  tube     coz one  long   slow bend  is  beter  than  two  bends

Just pulled my D14 out of the garage and photographed the speedo cable. The cable is about 58" long and routed in this way is quite long enough and has no nasty bends. As far as I know this is the correct route.
From speedo drive, along the swinging arm, under the engine, part way up the downtube, into the slot between the headlamp nacelle and lower fork yoke, into the speedo head.
See pictures below.

Thanks Mike.

That's what I thought & tried to do but it just didn't seem long enough.

I've not measured it yet, will do this pm.

Thanks Mike, I tried a tape on it last night & reckoned about 54".

Tried the lower route again & it's way off.

Hi,

My new cable arrived and at 58” is a very good fit on my Bushman taking the under the engine route, I actually took it under the bash plate as going above it brought the cable very close to the exhaust.

Regards.
