Hi has anyone got any ideas. My bantam speedo has a nice bright  bulb in it, but it does not light the dial or needle up at all, it glows around the edge. Just the other night I had a Police van behind me through a village in the dark, and I had to guess at slower than 30.  I have a black faced smiths speedo on another bike and that is fine as the needle and numbers show up ok as they are white.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

the  movment  inside  tilts    a  bit  coz  the  angle  of  spedo   cable     closing   the  gap  between  glass and fase/ scale   this stops   the light  ,,  if  you  can change  the  rout   of  the  cable    may  help    change  the  tilt

do you have the long peanut bulb fitted and the bulb holder pushed fully into the speedo
they are not as bright as modern bike speeds but I can still see the needle and face in a pitch black night, top photo
or try an LED bulb bottom photo
