I'm looking at a barrel and piston for the Bantam.A 64.5 mm Rex caunt piston and barrel bored to suit. Also had some port work done on it.Not sure what model it's off but I think it will fit.Whether it will make much difference is the question. The only thing that is concerning me is whether my exhaust will fit as I know earlier models had a narrow bore whereas mine is the big bore.Plus the intake port looks very oval and very big which would mean my carb is unsuitable and would need some kind of adapter or a different carb.Should I take the plunge or steer clear?
Any clues as to which model the barrel is off?
What's 7/16 in mm again?
the exterior part of the exhaust port of all the175cc barrels are the same size but different internally the D14/B175 just had an adaptor ring to take the larger bore ex pipe
but your one looks like it had been made the full large size without the adaptor ring
whether it worthwhile playing with modified barrels only you can decide

Thanks Mike.Whats your opinion of the intake? That's the thing that's putting me off more than the exhaust really as it looks really wide and I only have a standard 626 carb.Re-jetting etc. Doesn't faze me as I,'ll just get it on the old bum Dyno😁😁😁

if its a D10 onwards barrel it should have a Dowel on the bottom right hand side of your 2nd photo which I cant see
the inlet is a bit stupid 38MM ? no carbs are that shape
think you would have problems with air leaks and would the transfer ports be upto that amount of flow
getting the mixture correct across the full rev range could be a real PITA
but you like a challenge

Thanks Mike.So it's probably a D7 barrel and yes the intake is silly.Thought my eyes were going funny at 1st.id probably be better just buying a piston off Rex and getting my own barrel rebored for the price he's asking then as the porting on my barrel would probably be a better start anyway?Might just buy myself a shiny new exhaust instead 😁
