Hi all,

I have finally started on my d7 which a bought in March.

i don’t have a spark at the plug, the wiring loom is shot.

it has only one switch on the head light and 3 leads coming out of the generator.

do I have to short out any of the 3 leads to get a spark.

regards gary

Do you have any previous experience with Bantams / Motorbikes? That would help us to help you. For a start we need to know what model of D7 you have as there are several versions using different wiring systems.

A simple internet search on BSA Bantam D7 Super gives ** Please log in to view **. It's also worth looking through the LINKS which appear just below FORUM - we don't have a monopoly on Bantams! wink

As both Cocorico and Sunny say, Gary, you've got a lot of reading to do. The D7 is notoriously bothersome to get the electrics right on. Over the years many bits have been swapped  by previous owners and rewired in a way that only they understood. So I suggest the very first thing that you do is post some pics of your stator so we can id it. Then we can start moving forward hopefully. What's your frame number as well? Frame and engine may well not match so you may be trying to run mismatching systems here.

You will find just about everything you could ever want on the Forum via the FAQs and technical sections;  ** Please log in to view **

Have a really good nose around the forum and enjoy yourself. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Good Luck!

All the best,

Stewart
