Finally got chance to look at my 1955 D3 plunger - much better looking than the ugly swinging arm D3 - in my own humble opinion (not the views of the Bantam Club etc etc) no offence Bob.

Wouldn't start and no spark.

Checked all electrical connections (under the points cover), set the plug & points gaps and it fired up.

Ticked over - rough - but wouldn't rev up.

Fiddled with the timing and Bob's your Uncle - no pun intended Coco.

Rode it straight up the lane and was going great - really great - until it threw the chain off and locked the back wheel up.

Lots of tuts, huffing & blowing from a group of dog walkers as I tried to pull the chain out of the back brake rod then nursed it back home.

It was as slack as Alice - never thought to check it - or the twenty odd nuts and bolts that were all falling out.

Nipped a few up, adjusted the chain and set off again - feel the power - compared to the old D1 Lucas!

Another one back on the road.

Will sort out wobbly forks (loose top nuts) etc and ride it to Wortley Forge for the annual Yorkshire Bantams Christmas gathering.

Can't comment on the official Christmas dinner last night due to pending prosecutions.

Ride safe.

Good to hear you have another D3 back on the road - even if it is an older than my 'ugly' one...

Hope you get the forks sorted soon and don't forget that tight nuts work better than loose any day.embarassed

Enjoy Yuletide and keep safe.

Hello Bob,

Good to hear from you, I hope you are well.

The hard bits done now - I hope - just a bit of fettling and tidy the wiring etc.

If I go to Wortley on it I’ll post some pictures for you.
