Nick, 5mm was the gap on the old rings. New piston and rings have sorted it.

Got to look at the forks now.

I have also realised I don't even own a helmet since an off some years ago.

If there is no sparking at all at the points "at all", I would suspect the condenser (not an easy thing to test ) however if you disconnect the condenser you should get lots of sparking, in which case the condenser is suspect.

It's been quite some time since I've been able to do much on the bike. Just put new plug and condenser on. Takes dozens of kicks to fire up. Runs for a minute or so and stops. Wondering if its using a carbs worth of fuel, blocked fuel cap vent or blocked pipe. Going to strip carb again tomorrow.

when you have the tickler pressed do you get a good flow.

There is a filter in the tank...ontop of the tap...thats easy missed...I took mine off and just realy on a real good filter before the carb.

If tour carn is the same as the one on my B175 there is also a filter in the base of the carb...again easy to miss.

So how well does the fuel flow?

Perhaps leaving it so long was the problem. I went to check the carb etc, but checked the battery first. It was low on acid so I topped it up and charged it. It started second kick, ran well and kept running. I just need to insure it and give it a try.

Batteries (especially lead / acid) are designed to be used, if they are not used regularly you need to connect them to a battery maintainer to keep it fully charged. Something like ** Please log in to view **.
