After consuming some alcohol and managing to hit the glass with my hand and cutting my finger which I'm sure will need stitches, as it is still bleeding some eighteen hours later, I had a look on E Bay and have purchased a D5, I will be picking it up from Hampshire Tomorrow. Not really sure how this happened, It will now join the other three that need registering, I will be keeping the dating officer busy. Not sure were to put it has I have run out of space. Well I keep getting told they only made them for a year and they are rare, rofl

I don't think any comments are really necessary, apart from sounds like a familiar story to me, hence I am well into double figures on Bantams alone.

Never go on ebay when you've had a drink. I've done it myself and ended up buying some things I didn't really want. Anyway Dave I hope the finger soon heals up or it will stop you tinkering with the D5.  cheers

Welcome to the Club Dave. (That's the 'Got a D5 but didn't realise what a b****r it would be to get it running again club)

There's a few of us in it with quite a few of these 'very rare' bikes. Thinking about it, maybe they're 'very rare' because no-one ever sees them on the road as they're always in bits in the sheds of their frustrated owners!  ranting

Anyway - Good luck and if you need to know anything about keeping them off the road, there's me, Dookie and quite a few more 'experts' in that discipline to help youlaugh

Internet is playing up.

It is a good idea to make sure the clutch works before you bump start it.I think the clue could be in one of the pictures as to why it didn't work.

I need a air filter, it is the only bit I can see at the moment that is missing. 20160330_143028.jpg

Looks good! What's that funny thing in your last picture? Haven't seen one of those before.

Looks like someone was going to do the clutch- there's a new Rex Caunt clutch pushrod.

You've got the original style back light too! You'll need a battery carrier strap as well as an air filter.

Hi,

It is a rare bulb horn flute I was looking for one of these for the D1 now I have a spare, I have a battery carrier but is a D7 one, There is no wiring on the bike so that needs doing, not sure about the red seat, Believe it or not I have started on the paint. I stripped the rear number plate applied a coat of Krust and have just put a coat of primmer on it. it has a brand new exhaust and down pipe, two new tyres and chain and sprockets. Just because I hate the battery, I might just wire it up as direct lighting.

Trouble is I have no more time off work until next Tuesday.  I need to sort out why the fuel leaks out of the tickler, must be the float not shutting off the fuel.

It has fitted a key operated fuel tap, I have never seen one of these before. You can just see it in the picture below. Lets hope i don't loose the key.

You've got the three wires (red, white, green) that come from the charging coils. Personally I would put a battery on, if it's an ED5B engine number, but... as we like to say on this forum... it's your bike! I'm finishing work now, I'll pop over. rofl

Just realised as well, the speedo and cable are also missing, he did say this in the advert, but on my bitsa Bantam it has fitted the speedo for this bike, so I have bought a cheap generic one and will fit that to the Bitsa and use the correct one of the bitsa on this one.

How can I find out what colour it was when it left the factory ?  Still not sure about the red seat ?
