Hi all!

I'm hoping a few of you remember me but I won't be offended if you don't, I was last on here 5-6 years ago!

** Please log in to view **

That's my old project thread. I sadly couldn't gain access to that account so I've had to make a new one.

I haven't worked on this since 2016. Life got in the way & she had an old bedsheet thrown over her at the back of my parent's garage. Fast forward to 2020 & I've now got my own house with a garage (which is full of other motorbikes) but most importantly, I have an incredibly supportive & patient fiancee who has agreed to let me keep the D3 in the lounge... just temporarily...

So here we are. I'm stripping her back down again as I can't remember where I got to & I don't trust my younger self! I'm chatting to C&D Autos who are just around the corner so I'll have some new fixtures & fittings soon to help progress things.

A couple of photos from today's effort after my post arrived from C&D Autos. I had a few missing fixtures from the rear mudguard so I've got all of those now. I've ensured everything is copper greased & tightened up nicely. Can't help but notice the rear mudguard looks crooked but I'll see how it looks when I've got the rear wheel properly fastened & in position.

Struggling to track down the tie bolt (21-5750) & bolt (21-5656) if anyone has a link to where I can buy those? I have the bolts as you can see but they're the originals & don't look too pretty!

YES! She's running after 8 years of a very long stop/start restoration & ~40 years of being off the road.

Just a recap for those who aren't aware of the history - This wonderful little thing was bought by my grandad in 1967 & then ridden by my dad in 1971 when he was just 17. In the late 70s/early 80s it got laid up at the back of grandad's garage. Dad & I then found it under a tarpaulin leaning against his workbench after he passed away in 2008. I wish the pair of them were here to smell & hear the 2-stroke - I bet they'd have a few stories to tell!

Steve Hartley (not sure if he's on the forum) nipped round to help get her going. Cheers!
