Evening All,

Getting closer to retirement so thought I better get all the bits I need to re-commission my D7,

first stop, a Mikuni carb, had a scout round and thought I'd buy from someone on here, hence

Bournemouth Bantams. So I tried to find his site, what a faff, got to sign up to tapatalk, got to use

faceache et.al.doh So I've given up that line of enquiry and looking though old threads on here, found

Rex Caunt but can't seem to locate the company, could anyone point me in the right direction for a

replacement carb, (I'm not a fan of amal).

Also after a nice expansion box exhaust system for the same D7.confused

regards Chris

Hi Chris, what an excellent plan....get all the bits together first! I'm forever getting halfway through and discovering I'm missing the critical component!

Anyway, have a look in the "links" section at the right hand top of the page here and it should lead you to many suppliers. I thik most of the links are up to date. Trade Classic Bikes have a new web site, I know. Just ggogle them. Very helpful, as are most suppliers. Rex Caunt is best accessed via Ebay. Another good ebay source of 2nd hand parts is Classic Bantam Parts nr Durham. Depends what you wana do with your bike...

If you're looking for info on the forum here, your best bet is to google (say) "D7 forks bantam forum" or whatever you're searching. It throws up better results than using the Forum's internal search engine.Bit of  a faff but...

There's plenty info here and lots of helpful other bantam owners, so Good Luck with the build. we all love seeing pics of everyione's machines....

Mmm, interesting idea having a 30 mm carb for the B31 when it has a 7/8" while 26 mm for the B33 with a 1" Amal carb

Strange to think Allens suggest 26mm (1+1/16") and standard amal is 7/8" surely that's

going to take a bit of blending in?

Only D7's are 7/8", a few early D10's are 1", all later models are 26mm.

I suspect they are aimed at the later models, although all the mountings are identical, therefore they could be made to fit a D7/D10 too, especially if you were interested in better performance.

I'm not a complete idiot ............................................ some parts are missing.

All this talk of Mikuni carbs!!, what are the advantages ??

Looked at the Allens site, no prices listed, and they recommend the same carb for a D10 as for a D14, surely they must be jetted differently between the 2 machines.

Would be interested to hear from someone who has fitted one as to what improvements are achieved and cost versus a new Amal.

Hi Ralph

If you copy and paste this mikuni vs amal site:bsabantamclub.com into google you will find a good few posts on the Mikuni.  There has been a lot of success and unfortunately a lot of failures. However, there are also aa lot of copy mikuni available. Rex Caunt does the original correctly jetted as does Allens
